Art Club with Ms. Pelton

Art classes at Bronx Letters serve both advanced and beginning students.  Students from grades 6-12 have the opportunity to grow as artists and design-thinkers through project-based learning.  The courses explore all mediums but mainly focus on drawing and painting by using materials like graphite, colored pencils, and paint.  Through art class, students also learn about creativity, confidence, problem solving, perseverance, focus, non-verbal communication, collaboration, dedication, and accountability.

Ms. Pelton also runs an Art Club on Mondays with both Middle School and High School students.

On April 7th, 2015, BAL held it's First Annual Student Art Exhibit, featuring artwork from more than 50  students and faculty/staff.

During the Fall of 2014 BAL had a partnership with Dreamyard, an outside art program that connected students with the community through art. This very special project was to create glass mosaics that would be permanently installed in a residential building on East 144th Street just a few blocks away from BAL.  An organization named AMCH has developed the recently opened building. And an artist from DreamYard, Lisa Prives worked with Ms. Pelton's art class for months to put them together. Below are pictures of the unveiling:
