College

At The Urban Assembly Bronx Academy of Letters, a chief goal of our academic program is to prepare our students for successful study at whatever college they choose to attend.  The college office works with students as early as their sixth grade year to establish a culture that understands the significance of college, graduation requirements, success plans, the college essay, extracurricular activities, college selection process, and graduation requirements.  Grades 6-11 participate in school wide college trips and workshops.

Additionally, during the spring of their junior year, students work with the College Counselor to select and plan for college application season.  Student in their senior year receive guidance through the entire college application process from researching “best fit” colleges to finalizing their financial aid packages.  During College Fridays, a weekly college workshop for seniors,  students apply to CUNY, SUNY and private colleges while receiving assistance on the FAFSA and TAP applications.  The Urban Assembly also offers a Bridge to College Coach who supports our graduates through the summer so they are able to successfully matriculate their freshman year of college.

Bronx Letters alumni have attended SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Albany, SUNY Binghamton, CUNY Baruch, Northeastern, Fordham, Temple, University of New Haven, Johnson & Wales, University of Rochester, Sarah Lawrence, Skidmore, Colgate, Wesleyan, and Columbia, among others.
