Surpass!

Surpass! is a free afterschool program that prepares juniors and seniors for the U.S. History Regents exam. The program meets afterschool twice-a-week, between March 2 and May 21, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Museum of the City of NY.

The class provides intensive training in test-taking strategies, overviews of core topics, and uses actual photographs, artifacts, documents, and political cartoons from the Museum’s exhibitions and collections to bring history to life, and provide trigger points for recalling information on the exam. The Activist New York exhibition, for example, features material related to abolition, women’s suffrage, labor rights, the Civil Rights Movement, and more.

This an amazing second chance especially for students taking the exam a second time around. Surpass! provides students with a safe space to ask questions as well as received one on one attention that is pivotal for both understanding and confidence.
